When is the best time to book a newborn Session?
Newborn babies grow so quickly and before you know it, that newborn stage has finished. This is why it's best to get a date pencilled it as soon as we can. Often I have mums-to-be booking a dae based on their due date or messaging me as soon as baby is born. Weekday sessions are much more avialable so I can be very flexible around this time. Weekend slots are more difficult as I have lots of Weddings and events booked in for Saturdays and Sundays.
How do we book a photo session?
It's very simple, no deposit needed. We just discuss a date and get you booked in.
Where will the session take place?
All newborn sessions take place at your home. As soon as I arrive, the first thing I do is assess the space, and most importantly the natural light. I am aiming to capture baby in his/her natural surroundings, so posing is limited. It's all about the little details and the little moments between mum, dad, siblings and baby.
How Can we prepare for the session?
A clear bed, any textured blankets ( chunky knits are perfect) work well to lay baby on. I would also suggest feeding baby just before I arrive or as I arrive to be finishing the feed, so baby is usually sleepy. Keep a dummy to hand or anything else that settles baby. I have white noice too which can help sometimes.
What will you be photographing during the session?
I always photograph baby on his/her own, close ups of hands, feet, squished lips and button noses, anything I can see that captures your newborn baby. Then we will have baby and mum, baby and dad, baby and siblings, one of all the family etc. We will move around your home working with different light and spaces.
What happens after?
I will go away and lovingly work on all of your images, retouching each one individually. You will receive a minimum of 40 high resolution digital images ( either on a disc or via a download link).
This takes around 3 weeks.
